If you’re like most people, you don’t want to have to buy a new car every year. In fact, you probably want to make your car last for as long as possible. Here are some simple automotive maintenance tips that can help you keep your car running smoothly.
- Check Your Tire Pressure- Using a pressure gauge, make sure your tires are at the proper PSI every once in a while. If you aren’t sure what the PSI in your tires should be, you should be able to find out in your car’s owner’s manual.
- Let Your Car Warm Up- When you get in your car to go somewhere, do you turn the key in the ignition and almost immediately drive off? Instead of doing this, let your car sit for a few minutes after you turn it on so that oil can lubricate the engine before you start driving.
- Take it Easy While Driving- Although this is more of a driving tip than an automotive maintenance tip, how you drive can either positively or negatively affect how long your car holds up. While the occasional quick acceleration or panic-stop won’t necessarily hurt your car, doing these activities all the time will.
- Change Your Oil- When it comes to automotive maintenance tips, this is probably the most important one we can give you. We strongly recommend bringing your car into us at Joyce Automotive for an oil change every time you drive between 5,000 and 7,500 miles, depending on the type of oil your vehicle manufacturer recommends.
