Tire Shop & Services

At Joyce Automotive & Towing, we know that your vehicle’s tires are an essential component of your car. They significantly and noticeably impact performance and safety — quite literally, where the rubber hits the road.

That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of tire installation, tire maintenance, and tire repair services to ensure your vehicle is running smoothly, to save on fuel, and to keep you safe.

While you probably won’t need to invest in a pair of winter tires in Lakeland, Florida, your location and the weather can still impact your vehicle. You’ll want tires that are robust enough to handle a hotter climate. Also, as your tire tread wears down, your automobile loses traction and is more prone to hydroplaning or sliding, particularly in wet weather. This is especially true during summer, when rain is more common.

Tire Repair and Services

Rotation

Tire rotation is crucial to tire maintenance, as it helps ensure your tires wear evenly. Over time, your front and rear tires will wear down at different rates, and rotation helps to even out the wear and extend their lifespans. We recommend rotating your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer’s recommendations.

Balance

Tire balance is another important aspect of tire maintenance. Over time, your tires can become unbalanced, which can cause uneven wear, vibration, and other problems. Our expert technicians use state-of-the-art equipment to balance your tires to ensure they roll smoothly and wear evenly.

Alignment

Wheel alignment is another crucial aspect of tire maintenance. When your vehicle’s wheels are properly aligned, it ensures that your tires wear evenly and that your vehicle handles and steers correctly. Our experienced technicians use advanced alignment equipment to ensure that your vehicle’s wheels are aligned to the manufacturer’s specifications, helping extend your tires’ life and improve your vehicle’s handling and safety.

Routine Tire Checks

Check your tread

Here is an old trick to check the tread depth on your tires — the “penny test.” Insert a penny upside down between the tread ribs. If you can see the top of President Lincoln’s head, your tire tread is too low.

Inspecting your tires regularly is essential to keeping them in good condition. While our technicians are always happy to inspect your tires for you, there are a few things you can do yourself to check for wear or damage.

Start by checking tire pressure regularly, as under-inflated or over-inflated tires can wear down quickly and be dangerous to drive on. The recommended pressure for your vehicle’s tires is typically printed on a sticker in the door jamb of the driver’s side door, the glove box, or the fuel filler door. Alternatively, look in the owner’s manual. When checking tire pressure, don’t forget to check your spare tire if you have one. Tire pressure is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI).

Even normal wear can occur faster than you might think, so inspect your tires’ tread as well to ensure it is not worn down too much.

Additionally, check your tire rims for any cracks or other signs of damage caused by things like hitting potholes, scraping curbs, or driving on a flat tire. A damaged rim can cause a tire to leak or wear unevenly and be dangerous to drive on.

Our tire shop offers a wide range of tire installation, tire maintenance, and tire repair services. These include tire rotation, balance, alignment, and replacement.
